Scholarship Opportunities

The Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Alumni Association at the University of North Alabama is proud to be offering up to ten $1,000 Academic/ Leadership Scholarships for new freshmen payable at $500 for the fall and, if qualifying, an additional $500 for spring.  These scholarships will be awarded based on academic and leadership excellence demonstrated during high school and during the fall freshman semester.

Fall Qualifications:

A minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or an ACT score of 24 or better is required.  This qualification must be verified through UNA.

Leadership positions in high school are a premium.  Participation in high school activities such as athletics, clubs, honor societies, student government and other organizations as well as awards and recognitions will be considered.

Activities outside of school will also be considered, particularly community service and leadership opportunities.  Examples would include volunteer work, scouting, youth group leadership, etc.

To receive a scholarship, you must become a member of Alpha Tau Omega and be a member in good standing at the time of the award.

Spring Qualifications:

You will not have to reapply for a spring scholarship.  For those who received scholarships in the fall, an additional $500 spring scholarship will be awarded automatically based on the following criteria:

Achieve a 4.0 GPA for the fall semester

Or

Achieve a 3.5 GPA or better for the fall semester and serve in an elected position of leadership in the chapter (president, vice-president, Chaplain, secretary, treasurer, historian, health & safety officer, membership education chair or recruitment chair).  Elections are held in November each year

Or

Achieve a 3.5 GPA or better for the fall semester and be involved in at least one other campus leadership organization such as Freshman Forum, Student Government Association, LaGrange Society, or SOAR.

AND 

Be a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity in good standing.

Definitions:

“A member of Alpha Tau Omega” means you are recognized by the local and national fraternity and the University of North Alabama as a pledge or an initiated member of the fraternity.

For purposes of qualification for this scholarship, to be “in good standing” means that you are current on all monetary obligations to the chapter and national organization and are not under any judicial sanction or pending a judicial hearing by the chapter or university.

Payment Of Scholarships:

Fall Scholarships will be paid in two installments – $250 upon recognition as a pledge by the chapter, university and national fraternity, and $250 upon initiation in the fraternity (typically in November).

Spring scholarships will be paid in one lump-some payment by January 31.
